My Duties

I had the privilege of serving in the Discipline and Accommodation Committee during Pranavam 2024. As part of my responsibilities, I oversaw the cleaning of the campus and hostel rooms, ensuring a hygienic and welcoming environment for all participants. I led the efforts to check the functionality of lights and fans in the hostel and ensured the availability of necessary facilities, such as buckets, mugs, and cleaning supplies. Additionally, I played a key role in allocating students to different hostel rooms, ensuring a smooth and organized accommodation process. Over the course of six days, I actively participated in cleaning the campus and hostel rooms, maintaining a green and clean environment throughout the event. It was a fulfilling experience to contribute to the comfort and well-being of everyone attending the camp.On Day 4 of Pranavam 2024, in addition to my regular responsibilities with the Discipline and Accommodation Committee, I also had the opportunity to contribute to the Food Committee by assisting with kitchen and food arrangement duties. I helped with organizing and arranging the kitchen, coordinating the preparation of meals, and ensuring that the food was served efficiently to all participants. This experience allowed me to engage in teamwork, manage time effectively, and ensure that everyone enjoyed wholesome and timely meals. Balancing these duties with my primary role in maintaining cleanliness and discipline further enriched my learning experience during the camp.Though it was not part of my assigned duties, I took on the responsibility of locking all the hostel rooms and gates at night after everyone had dispersed, ensuring the safety and security of the premises. Each morning, I made it a point to unlock the rooms and gates to prepare for the day's activities. Additionally, I took the initiative to sweep and clean the auditorium and the Mathematics classroom, creating a neat and organized environment for the sessions and events. These extra efforts allowed me to contribute beyond my designated role and ensured the smooth functioning of the camp activities.

These unique forests, characterized by salt-tolerant trees and shrubs, thrive in tropical and subtropical regions, playing a crucial role in supporting marine and coastal biodiversityMangroves act as natural barriers against coastal erosion, provide habitats for diverse species, and play a crucial role in carbon sequestration.Mangroves provide shelter, breeding grounds, and nurseries for many fish, crustaceans, and other marine species, supporting local fisheries and biodiversity.Mangrove roots trap sediments and pollutants, maintaining clean and healthy coastal waters essential for coral reefs and seagrass beds.Communities depend on mangroves for fishing, honey collection, wood, and ecotourism, promoting sustainable development and local economies.

Participants learned how preserving these ecosystems contributes to long-term environmental stability and resilience. The ecosystem face threats from urbanization, deforestation, pollution, and climate change. Mangroves are cleared for aquaculture and development. These activities not only degrade ecosystems but also increase vulnerability to environmental disasters.

Mangroves are vital ecosystem that support life, protect the environment, and provide livelihoods to millions of people. Protecting and restoring these ecosystems is crucial for biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable development. Through education and action, we can ensure these natural treasures continue to thrive for future generations.
