Teaching Practice Week-3
This week marked significant progress in the second phase of my teaching practice, blending teaching, assessments, and project-related activities with school events and responsibilities. Here’s a reflection on the week’s highlights:
Classroom Teaching and Lessons
I completed several lesson plans in both Physics and Chemistry, focusing on topics such as spherical mirrors, focal length, colloids, and suspensions. The students, while generally attentive, required consistent classroom management to maintain discipline. Using examples from daily life helped simplify complex concepts, and most students actively participated in discussions. Despite a few disruptions, I successfully ensured that the majority understood the lessons.
Assessments and Projects
I conducted a survey in class 8E as part of my B.Ed. project work. The students cooperated well, providing insightful responses that will aid in my research. Additionally, I discussed and provided notes for previously covered topics to ensure clarity and prepare the students for upcoming assessments.
School Activities
- Midday Meal Program: Throughout the week, I contributed to the midday meal program, ensuring the smooth distribution of meals to students.
- Construction Work: The ongoing construction on campus was a consistent part of the school environment, requiring adaptability in managing classes amidst the noise and disruptions.
Challenges and Classroom Management
Classroom management remained a focus, especially with some students disrupting the flow of lessons. To address this, I implemented strategies such as interactive questions and group activities, which helped maintain engagement for the majority. A few students needed additional guidance, which I provided through one-on-one interactions.
Reflection for Growth
The week underscored the importance of patience and adaptability in teaching. Going forward, I aim to incorporate more creative teaching aids and strategies to foster a more inclusive and attentive classroom atmosphere. Additionally, I will continue to refine my classroom management skills to address disruptive behaviors effectively.
