Teaching Practice Week-2
Week 2 of Teaching Practice at HSS Chettikulangara: Embracing New Responsibilities
The second week of my teaching practice at HSS Chettikulangara was a whirlwind of activity, filled with valuable learning experiences and new challenges. Here’s a glimpse into what this week entailed:
Expanding My Teaching Portfolio
This week, I successfully completed five lesson plans in physics and two in chemistry. These lessons were an opportunity to deepen my understanding of the subjects while also refining my teaching strategies. Engaging students in these complex topics required creativity and careful planning, and I’m pleased with the progress we made together.
Supporting 9D with the State achievement Test
One of the key highlights of this week was assisting the teacher and students in 9D with the State Achievement Test. This experience was particularly insightful as it allowed me to see firsthand how standardized assessments are conducted and how students respond under exam conditions. I was able to offer support where needed, helping students feel more at ease during the test.
Involvement in School Activities
Outside the classroom, my responsibilities continued to grow. I remained committed to serving during the midday meal breaks, which has become a routine part of my day. It’s a small task, but it offers a great way to connect with students in a more informal setting.
In the evenings, I observed and supported high school students during their sports practice sessions. It’s inspiring to see their dedication and teamwork, and it’s given me a deeper appreciation of the role extracurricular activities play in their overall development.
School-Wide Events and Activities
This week was also bustling with school-wide events. The IT Quiz held in the computer lab was a significant event, engaging students from LP, UP, and high school. Watching the students apply their knowledge and skills in a competitive environment was both exciting and educational.
Additionally, the school was alive with Kalolsavam practice, a vibrant cultural event that students were enthusiastically preparing for. The NCC certificate examination also took place, showcasing the discipline and commitment of students involved in this program.
Reflections and Looking Forward
As I reflect on this week, I realize how much these varied experiences contribute to my growth as an educator. Balancing lesson planning, teaching, and involvement in extracurricular activities is challenging, but it’s also incredibly fulfilling. Each day offers new insights into the multifaceted role of a teacher, and I’m eager to continue this journey of learning and development.
I look forward to what the coming weeks have in store and the continued opportunities to make a positive impact on the students at HSS Chettikulangara.
