Week Highlights

My first week of teaching practice at HSS Chettikulangara began with a mix of excitement and a bit of nervousness. I was assigned to teach sections 8B and 8E. On the first day, I got a chance to substitute in 8B. The students were energetic, and it was a great opportunity to familiarize myself with them. The class went smoothly, and I was able to connect with a few students who were particularly interested in the subjects.

The second day was a bit more structured. I had my first official math lesson with 8A. Teaching math was a bit challenging, but I felt confident after seeing the students grasp the concepts well. I was also able to complete one physics lesson plan in 8E. The students were curious and asked a lot of questions, which made the class lively and engaging.

Midweek, I focused on completing my lesson plans. In 8B, I completed two lessons, which gave me a good sense of their understanding and areas where they needed more attention. In 8E I completed one lesson plan. The students were cooperative, and we had some interesting discussions, especially during the physics lessons. I also assisted with the State achievement test by Samagra Kerala conducted this week. It was a new experience, and I was glad to help the students with their questions during the exam.

August 23 was particularly special as the school celebrated Space Week along with the inauguration of Scientia, the Science club. The students were excited, and the atmosphere was festive. I participated in the celebrations and integrated some of the space-related themes into my lessons, which the students enjoyed. It was a great way to make the subjects more relatable and fun for them.

The week wrapped up with sports selections taking place. It was inspiring to see the students' enthusiasm and competitive spirit. As teacher trainees, we also contributed to the school community by helping with the midday meal serving. It was a humbling experience, and it gave me a chance to interact with the students outside the classroom. The teacher trainees also assisted in serving the mid-day meal to the students.

Overall, my first week at HSS Chettikulangara was a fulfilling experience. I feel more connected to the students and the school, and I’m looking forward to the coming weeks.
